Privacy Policy for LAPP

LAPP ("the App") is a children’s iPad application developed and operated in the United Kingdom. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information provided by users. By using the App, you agree to the practices outlined below.

To deliver a personalised experience, we collect the following:

For Children (User Profile):

• Name
• Facial image (optional; photo taken within the app)

For Parents/Guardians or Educators (Onboarding):

• First name
• Last name
• Email address

Other App Data:

• Crash and error logs (via Sentry)
• Push notification tokens (via Firebase)

We do not collect unnecessary personal identifiers or track users across other apps or websites.

Facial images are optional. If a parent or guardian chooses to add one, the photo is used only to place the child’s face into interactive storybooks within the app. Specifically:

• No facial recognition or biometric data is collected
• No analysis of age, emotion, or identity is performed
• Images are processed via SVG technology to embed in story scenes
• Images are not shared or accessible for posting
• There are no secondary uses of facial data

We use a limited number of trusted third-party tools to support essential App functions:

We use Sentry to capture app errors, crashes, and bugs.

• This helps us improve app stability and user experience.
• The data collected may include device type, OS version, and anonymised usage logs.
• No personal information or facial images are included in crash reports.

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications to users.

• This may involve the collection of device tokens to deliver messages.
• Notifications are used only to inform users of new stories or features within the App.
• We do not use notifications for advertising purposes.

Facial images are processed via the AILabTools API to prepare them for use in the App.

• AILabTools does not store images permanently.
• Processed images are stored locally on the device and securely on our UK-based servers.

All personal data, including facial images, is stored:

• Locally on the user's iPad
• On secure servers in the United Kingdom

All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
Facial images are stored only for as long as the profile exists. When a profile is deleted, the images and related data are automatically removed.

You can delete your child's data in two ways:

1. Via the App: Delete the user profile to remove all personal data and facial images.
2. By request: Email support@thelapp.co.uk to request full data deletion.

LAPP complies with the UK GDPR and the Children’s Code (Age Appropriate Design Code). We ensure that:

• Only minimal data necessary for the app’s functionality is collected
• No personal data is used for marketing, profiling, or behavioural tracking
• All features are designed with child privacy in mind

We strongly recommend parental supervision during app use.

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including:

• Encryption (in transit and at rest)
• Access control
• Secure third-party services with compliant privacy practices

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about your child
• Correct or update any personal details
• Request the deletion of your child’s data
